Let a pouch change the world!
Wine, as much as any other gastronomic product, is affected by the times: the cultures, the trends, the economic cycles, the change of the lifestyle of every human being.
Since Romans, we can appreciate an incredible amount of wine’s use, despite from it’s nutritional power, of course. Think about the medieval times, wine was used as a medicine that could cure many pathologies; they were used to boil it with absinth leafs to fight jaundice, with chamomile as a stress relief, with spices to be an analgesic, have you ever heard about vin brulé? Have a try! We’re not jealous.
Finally wine, is deeply bounded to civilization, an old friend to humanity, appreciated for it’s healthy and nutritional powers at the opposite to water…that makes rusty bones!
But then…From a brief and easy analysis we can make on the web, you can realize that the personal consume of wine in Italy drastically drop down in the last 50 years, we passed from 100 liters of wine per person, every year, to 43! Don’t be that surprise, we agree, analysts didn’t have the chance to know us!
In the ‘70s we saw the change of habits in wine consumption, it became a secondary good, a drink; not anymore a nourishment to appreciate during the break in the farming hours under the sun, good old times… It changes so much the way people looked at it that even in production it changed drastically: industrialization in vineyards and in the cellars, the original taste passed away to let a new market oriented taste coming out.
Imagine that in the ‘80s, wine became a “status-symbol”, you could look “in” or “out” to people who were drinking those high-sounding wine brands. How foolish… And it’s not the end of the story, during the ‘90s we arrived to the apex, wine became a “status-quo”, consumed basically at the restaurants, and bought at wine shops; though, Grandma kept her bottle under the table, old fox!
Anyway those times brought all the wine economic compartment to adapt to this new way of appreciating it: fancy restò, grease lightened wine shop and the ultimate step, sommelier classes, to be a real adept to the holy grail.
Producers side that meant: increase efficiency to vineyards to have steroidal grapes to artificially produce full bodied, glycerin, barrique marked wines for the new folk rising. Even producers stop drink their own, we don’t exaggerate!
But then a light at the end of the tunnel appeared, well, depending on the point of view, but in wine business was something quite good at the end, especially in the vineyards. We are talking about: the Green Revolution.
This new supportive economic system, is bringing people back closer to the mother earth, with a new respecting approach.
We, as UAIN, we are convinced that this is a fair vision to make business, cause we are working in a sustainable way, from the agricultural side, to the social, passing trough environment, and economical. We imagined a sustainable chain.
Every UAIN is telling a story of people, of a land to take care at; in order to produce and authentic agricultural product that has been bounded to people for thousands years. We squeezed and fermented all this values to bottle them in a essential pouch, with a cool design, to satisfy your everyday drinking pleasure!
